Feta crumbles become a creamy, tangy, delicious whipped dip perfect for any occasion as an amazing appetizer.
Feta has a strong flavor, I know. Well, hold onto your boots because I’m gonna a bunch more flavors that will punch ya in the mouth and make your taste buds start singing songs of delight. You’re welcome.
This recipe is super easy, and quick to make. The leftovers also store well in the fridge, or the dip can be made ahead of time and be chilling-out in the fridge ready when you are. Now you have a use for that Costo-sized container of Feta you have in your fridge.
I recommend the use of a food processor for this recipe. You could use a blender in a pinch, otherwise, you’ll be doing lots of whisking and mashing by hand. Don’t let that scare you away! All the work will be worth it.
The directions for this dip are so easy- you basically throw most of the ingredients in the food processor and let it go. I add some garnishes when serving, but that’s about it! This really is a no-fuss recipe, but it tastes so good everyone will be impressed with how fancy you are.
Ingredients
- 2 cups crumbled feta
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
- 2 Tbs oilive oil
- 2-3 Tbs lemon juice (1/2 of a lemon)
- lemon zest
- crushed red pepper flakes
- dill weed
- oregano
- minced garlic
- more olive oil
- Other garnish options- chopped cilantro, sliced green onions, diced sundried tomatoes, diced fresh tomatoes, etc.
Instructions
- In your food processor, combine the feta, milk, yogurt, lemon juice, and olive oil. Pulse or blend until fairly smooth- you may need to scrape down the sides and mix again. The dip will be grainy, but not lumpy.
- Spread your dip onto a plate, garnish with some extra oilve oil, the lemon zest, a clove or two of minced garlic, and a pinch of two of dill weed, oregano, and crushed red peppers. Serve immediately or keep covered in the fridge until you are ready to serve. If you are going to store in the fridge of a while before serving, add the garnishes right before serving.
- Serve with Fried Na'an Chips, Pita chips, sliced cucumber, celery sticks, carrot sticks, etc. You can choose with garnishes you want on the dip.
When you make this I absolutely recommend that you serve it with my Fried Na’an Chips! The combo is out of this world. Warm, crisp chips that are soft on the inside paired with the cool creamy dip… yum! You can thank me later.
Not only is this dip amazingly delicious, but it is so pretty, too! I love the pop of colors against the stark-white-dip.
If you just can’t find the time, or motivation to make your own fresh na’an chips for this, try the store bought mini-na’an breads. You could even fry those up for the warm/cool contrast with the dip.
